The Strathmore In Bethesda, Maryland

If you are a lover of performing arts and if you are in Maryland on a holiday or an official visit, you are at the right place. The state has a range of events in this sector all round the year to entertain you. All you have to do is to take a break from your normal routine and head straight to The Strathmore in Bethesda. This non-profit art center hosts multi-disciplinary events in its two venues – Mansion and Music Center.

The Strathmore in Bethesda traces its root back to around four decades ago in 1981. Initially, the events here were restricted to art exhibitions and small chamber performances. This is the present day Mansion and is located in the initial Strathmore venue. The Music Center came up later, after about thirty years. The Mansion was a private property between 1902 and 1979 until the Montgomery County bought the property for an Arts Center. Following renovations, the venue welcomed the public to its premises in June 1983.
