What Painful Conditions Can Chiropractic Modality Treatments Help Relieve?

Chiropractic modality treatments are an effective alternative to surgery or medications that can help relieve a number of acute, chronic, or severe conditions, including:

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Tendinitis

  • Bursitis

  • Pinched or compressed nerves

  • Herniated disc

  • Bulging or slipped disc

  • Low back pain

  • Chronic pelvic pain

  • Diabetic neuropathy

  • Sciatica

  • Injuries

Chiropractic care goes beyond simple adjustments and manual manipulations. Chiropractic modality treatments are an effective option that utilizes more advanced methods to get to the root of your pain, providing relief and long-term benefits.

While the main method of treatment for chiropractors typically involves manual manipulations and spinal adjustments, there are many other techniques that chiropractors can use as an effective way to treat pain along with the typical chiropractic care techniques.

These alternative techniques are known as chiropractic modality treatments. Some of these common chiropractic modality treatments that our chiropractors use at our clinic include:

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation Unit (TENs)

This method of pain relief treatment involves the use of a small, battery-powered, portable machine that uses low voltage electric current to promote muscle stimulation and address pain. The device is placed around nerves where the pain is occurring, or any trigger points in the body.

There are several levels and variables of intensity that get to the root of the problem in order to bring lasting relief and control pain. This treatment is highly recommended by our chiropractors for helping patients get through periods of acute or severe pain.

Traction

Spinal traction is another effective method of adjustment that helps to bring the body back into realignment and balance. A chiropractor will apply traction devices to distract areas of the spine, stretching the muscles and ligaments and increasing the space between the vertebrae.

This helps to gently separate the vertebrae, resulting in reduced nerve root pressure, disc decompression, and reduced pain overall.

Ultrasound Therapy

Ultrasound therapy is a type of deep heat therapy that is created by sound waves. When it is used and applied to soft tissues and joints, the sound waves act as a “micro-massage,” helping to reduce swelling, inflammation, increase blood flow, and decrease pain and stiffness throughout the body.

Interferential Current Therapy

Interferential current therapy, or IFC, uses high-frequency electrical impulses to reduce pain deep within your tissue. It works by accelerating the self-healing process to help your body return back to a healthy, pain-free state. The high frequency signals of this method of treatment penetrate through the deepest layers of the skin into underlying damaged muscle tissues.

The interferential current device transmits electrical impulses through the skin, stimulating the underlying tissue and nerves to promote healing at the source of your pain. The higher frequency passes through the skin easily, requiring minimal electrical energy input to get to the deeper tissues, resulting in less discomfort and more relief.
